Your metal building order is placed and your site is prepped. Now what? Here is a step-by-step look at what happens on delivery and installation day.
A few days before your scheduled installation, our team will confirm your delivery date and time window. Make sure your site is fully prepared — level, clear of obstacles, and accessible for the delivery truck. If you have a concrete pad, it should be fully cured (at least 7 days for standard concrete, longer in cold weather).
The installation crew arrives with a truck loaded with all the steel components for your building — precut and pre-drilled framing, roof and wall panels, trim, fasteners, doors, and anchoring hardware. Everything is manufactured to your exact specifications and labeled for efficient assembly.
The crew begins by laying out the building's footprint and installing the anchor system. On concrete, this means drilling holes and setting wedge anchors. On gravel or dirt, auger-style ground anchors are driven into the earth. This step ensures the building will be securely attached to its foundation.
The steel frame goes up next. Vertical legs are set on the anchors, and horizontal purlins and bracing connect them to form the building's skeleton. The frame is plumbed, squared, and tightened at every connection point.
Roof panels are installed from one end to the other, overlapping and fastened with self-drilling screws that include rubber washers for waterproofing. Trim is added along the ridge, eaves, and gable ends for a finished appearance and to seal the joints.
If your building includes enclosed sides, wall panels are installed next. Each panel is fastened to the frame and sealed at the joints. Openings for doors and windows are framed and finished with trim.
Roll-up doors, walk-in doors, and windows are installed in their openings. Corner trim, base trim, and any remaining finishing pieces are attached. The crew does a final walk-around to check every fastener, seal, and connection.
Most standard carports and single-car garages are installed in 3-6 hours. Larger buildings — two-car garages, barns, triple-wide structures — typically take a full day. Very large commercial or agricultural buildings may require two days.
Once the crew finishes, they will walk you through the completed building and answer any questions. The area around the building is cleaned up, and all packaging and scrap materials are removed. Your building is ready to use immediately.
